Pendants of tumbled Green Calcite and 925 Silver Bail
Our Green Calcite pendants are special precisely because they do not meet the requirement for extraordinary hardness that is demanded of a gemstone in the stricter sense (such as emerald). Calcite is so soft that the stone can be scratched by copper, and you can even feel its low hardness. Additionally, the mineral has good cleavage, meaning it must be processed with particular care, and it is typically colourless.
Due to these characteristics, Calcite is generally not predestined for use in jewelry. However, in Vizarron, Mexico, a lovely Calcite variety is found, its natural green colour attributable to trace inclusions of malachite.
Even though the material itself may not be of significant intrinsic value, we wish to honour the beauty and rarity of this green Calcite by adorning it with a 925 Sterling Silver loop. To achieve this, a fine hole is meticulously drilled, into which the pin bail is then set (which holds much better than simple gluing). We present these pendants individually photographed, allowing you to select your personal favourite stone.
