Some treasures you have to discover for yourself. This unique gemstone is the result of one of our own expeditions, which led us deep into the American Wild West in Arizona back in 2014. In the heart of Gila County, named after the eponymous river, we encountered a stone with an extraordinary signature: a vibrant, orange-brown pattern that immediately reminded us of the skin of a local legend—the Gila monster.
The striking resemblance to this impressive reptile, native to this very region, made naming it the natural choice.
Geologically, the Gila Stone belongs to a fascinating family of contact metamorphic rocks. Through the immense heat of rising magma, the original rock was transformed ("baked") deep within the earth and infused with fine quartz (SiO₂). The result is a range of varieties, from spotted and knotted schist to dense hornfels, lending each stone its unique character.
From carefully selected pieces of this rare material, we craft exclusive pendants. Worn on a sturdy leather cord, each one is an authentic piece of adventure. It carries the spirit of the untouched, rugged Arizona landscape—and who knows, perhaps also a spark of the resilient strength for which the Gila monster is so well known.
