Hand-Polished Serpentine – Gentle Palm Stones Full of Character
We offer hand-shaped one-of-a-kind Serpentine pieces instead of machine-made mass-produced items. We believe that a stone can only unfold its full beauty when treated with mindfulness and care.
While conventional tumbled stones collide in rotating drums for weeks (being "stressed"), each of our Serpentine stones is shaped through calm, manual craftsmanship. Our artisans follow the natural lines of the raw stone, gently rounding and polishing it to a high gloss until it nestles perfectly in your palm. As every stone has its own personality, we photograph each specimen individually. You receive the exact stone you have chosen.
Splendor from the Deep: From Marienbad to Genoa
Serpentine is a fascinating metamorphic rock that is often underestimated until seen in the right light. Depending on its origin, it reveals completely different faces:
- Yellow-green nuances: Reminiscent of fresh lichen or the light filtering through a dense forest.
- Cosmic Nebula Look: Black-and-white patterns that recall images of distant galaxies.
- Dark Elegance: A deep black base tone, traversed by fine, lace-like white veins.
We are proud to offer you hand-selected pieces from classic localities, including Genoa (Italy), Mariánské Lázně (Czech Republic), and sites in Ukraine.
Myth & History: The "Serpent Stone"
The name Serpentine is derived from the Latin serpens (snake), as its patterning resembles the scaled skin of a serpent. In antiquity and the Middle Ages, this was more than just a name: according to the Doctrine of Signatures, it was believed that the stone could protect against the bites of venomous animals and ward off "demonic forces." It was worn in amulets for protection and used in architecture for ornamental fountains and facades to energetically cleanse spaces.
Serpentine in Spirituality & Meditation
In modern crystal healing, Serpentine is cherished as a stone of care and boundary-setting. Thanks to our gentle manual shaping, it is ideally suited as a focal stone for meditation.
Spiritually oriented individuals often use Serpentine to soothe inner restlessness and to visualize a "protective space" around themselves. It is also regarded as a stone that facilitates access to spiritual experiences and helps one make peace with their own past – some traditions even associate it with understanding past lives.
Zodiac & Astrology: The Stone of the 13th Sign
Astrologically, Serpentine plays an exciting special role. It is one of the few stones associated with the "forgotten" 13th zodiac sign, Ophiuchus (the Serpent Bearer), covering the period from approx. November 29th to December 17th.
Furthermore, it is considered a classic balancing stone for the star sign Taurus (April 21 – May 20). Serpentine is said to help the earth-bound Taurus not to lose sight of their spiritual needs and to accept change more easily.
