Hand-Polished Scheelite – The "Heavy Stone" with a Gentle Touch
Scheelite is a stone of contradictions that you can feel the moment you pick it up. The first thing you notice is its impressive weight. At the same time, the mineral has a relatively low hardness (similar to Apatite), giving it an incomparably "soft," warm, and almost soapy tactile quality. This combination of high density and gentle surface makes our hand-shaped pieces extraordinary palm stones that you won't want to put down.
A Class Apart – Beyond the Standard Tumbled Stone Many stones today are mass-produced as tumbled stones, smoothed in large industrial machines. We take a different approach. Our Scheelites are mindfully ground and polished by hand to preserve the natural structure and avoid "stressing" the stone. Since every crystal has its own personality, we photograph each item individually. You are not buying a random pick; you receive exactly the unique piece you see in the picture.
Knowledge: From Chemist Scheele to "Tungstein"
This tungsten-bearing mineral (chemical formula: Ca[WO4]) is named after the German-Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele. Due to its unusual density, it is historically also known by the descriptive names "Schwerstein" (German for Heavy Stone) or "Tungstein" (derived from Swedish tung sten). Its color typically ranges from honey-yellow to orange, displaying a beautiful vitreous to resinous luster. The raw material for our hand-polished Scheelite was found in China.
For collectors, Scheelite holds a surprise: under shortwave UV light, almost all specimens exhibit a strong, usually blue-white fluorescence. What appears as a warm, earthy stone in daylight begins to glow radiantly in the dark under UV irradiation—a fascinating spectacle for any display cabinet.
Scheelite as a Lucky Stone for Zodiac Sign Libra: Balance with Substance
Astrologically, yellow-orange Scheelite is particularly associated with the zodiac sign Libra (September 24 – October 23). For Libras, who constantly strive for balance, Scheelite is said to help make decisions with the necessary steadfastness without losing their natural harmony.
Care Tip: Since Scheelite is rather soft compared to Quartz, please store your unique piece in a protected place and avoid keeping it directly against sharp-edged, harder minerals.
