Fossil marble jewelry boxes from Morocco - single-pictured

The jewelry boxes are made of Moroccan fossil marble. This rock has already proven its ability to preserve things for a very long time. The fossils are over 450 million years old and were found in eastern Morocco. Local artisans cut and polish the stone slabs and assemble them into these marble boxes. These caskets are mainly decorated with Orthoceras and Goniatit. Orthoceras are fossil sea creatures from the cephalopod family, known for their long, conical shells, which lived about 400 million years ago. These are the elongated fossils. The spiral fossils are Goniatites, which are fossil ammonites.. The marble occurs naturally in both black and brown colors.
