Nantan Meteorite Pendants: Jewelry Crafted from a Real Shooting Star

They say that when you see a shooting star, a wish comes true. We don't want to make any promises—but with a Nantan Meteorite Pendant, a genuine shooting star you can actually hold, at least one wish is granted instantly: the wish for a truly extraordinary piece of jewelry. You receive a cosmic good luck charm to accompany you every day.

We offer these special iron meteorites both as authentic collector's specimens and as unique pendants.

A "Dragon Fall" in Ancient China: The Nantan's Story

The story of the Nantan meteorite is legendary. Historical records from China's Ming Dynasty report that in the year 1516, the population of the Guangxi province (Nantan region) witnessed a spectacular event. They described how "stars fell, writhing like snakes and dragons."

This "iron rain" fell over a vast area of nearly 30 km² and was then forgotten for over 400 years.

A Fortunate Twist of History: The 1958 Rediscovery

It wasn't until 1958, during China's "Great Leap Forward," that the heavy chunks were rediscovered. In an effort to massively increase the country's steel production, the presumed iron ore boulders were destined to be smeltet. The endeavor failed: the high nickel content of nearly 7% (at 92% iron), typical for meteorites, made the fragments unusable for smelting in the simple backyard furnaces.

This "failure" was a blessing in disguise. It prevented the meteorites' destruction, confirmed their extraterrestrial origin, and made them accessible to collectors and scientists worldwide.

Ancient Form Meets Metallic Luster: The Aesthetic

After more than 450 years in the damp earth, the Nantan fragments were covered in a thick, dark patina. For our collection, however, these pieces have been carefully prepared and cleaned to reveal their true inner beauty.

The result is fascinating: the ancient, intricate shape of the fragment—marked by its journey through space and the atmosphere—now emerges with a fresh, almost futuristic luster.

From Fragment to Pendant: Quality from Our Atelier

As a geological classic, the Nantan (an IAB-MG iron meteorite) belongs in every discerning collection. Our fragments are carefully selected and prepared representative specimens.

For our exclusive Nantan Pendants, we precisely drill a precise hole using ultrasonic drilling. We then fit each unique piece with a durable, elegant bail made of solid 925 Sterling Silver. The contrast between the meteorite's wild, ancient form, its metallic luster, and the bright silver makes every pendant an absolute eye-catcher.

All Nantan items are photographed individually. Find the very meteorite fragment that, after its journey through the cosmos, is now destined to accompany you.
