Suevite is an impactite from the Nordlinger Ries Crater. It is a metamorphic breccia formed by the impact of a meteorite around 14.4 million years ago. Main components of the suevite are impact melts (impact glasses) in the crushed bedrock. Other components of suevite are also high-pressure and high-temperature minerals such as stishovite, coesite and diaplectic glasses, i.e. glasses that are not formed by melting, but by extreme crushing. The Nordlingen Ries Crater in Germany is a Suevite type locality.
