Item number: MIN0362 Size: 165x120x75 mm Crystal size (max.): 11 mm Weight: 1610 g Locality: Lahošť (Jeníkov), Duchcov, Ústí Region, Czech Republic
A classic piece of the radium-bearing high lustrous Barite with tabular blocky crystals. Yellow brown to deep honey brown somewhat translucent Radian Barite up to 1,1 cm grown on the Quartz-porphyry (Paleoignimbrite) matrix. Due to comparatively short decay of Radium (226Ra half life =1600 years) the specimen indicates a minor radioactivity. At background of 0,056µSv/h the α+β+γ radiation shows 0,521 µSv/h. Rare and unusual good specimen in cabinet size.
