Platyceras (Praenatica) gregarium has been originally described as Strophostylus gregarius, Praenatica gregarium and Praenatica gregaria by Joachim Barrande and published in Perner 1903. This species is a typical Lower Devonian gastropod, well known for symbiotic relationship with crinoids especially in Paleozoic of the Barrandian. Platyceras gregarium is cap-like shaped rapidly widening flat shell.
