  This is a large, doubly terminated, grayish floater hanksite crystal emplaced on smaller hanksite crystals. A perfect, well-formed crystal with hexagonal barrel habitus that reaches 9,3 cm in length. Inside this translucent crystal are black cloudy cirrostratus patterns (dendrites). From Searles Lake, California, the type locality for hanksite, rare, hexagonal sulfate-chloro-carbonate of potassium and sodium found in lacustrine evaporate deposits. This specimen has been coated with mineral oil to preserve it from dehydration in humid environments. Best way to keep in cool & dry environments or in sealed container.
