Cut slab of dendritic Jurassic limestone (Lithographic shale) from Solnhofen, Germany - the place where the Archeopterix came out. Dendrites are frequently mistaken for fossilized plants but they are not. Dendrites are crystallized minerals (brown Iron oxides - Limonite and black manganese oxide - Waad) on the surface of lithographic shales.
