Argillite
A fine-grained sedimentary rock composed predominantly of indurated clay particles. Argillaceous rocks are basically lithified muds. They contain variable amounts of silt-sized particles (0.002 to 0.05 mm in diameter). Another name for poorly lithified argillite is mudstone, often also referred to as pelite.
