 This sharp fluorescent specimen features a large, doubly terminated, translucent hanksite crystal with some possibly black organic inclusions.  The large crystal is 9,3 cm long.  Smaller translucent crystal has a black cap and measure 6.2x5.3x4.5 cm. Fluoresces blue to white under long wave UV light. From Searles Lake, California, the type locality for hanksite, rare, hexagonal sulfate-chloro-carbonate of potassium and sodium found in lacustrine evaporate deposits. This specimen has been coated with mineral oil to preserve it from dehydration in humid environments. Best way to keep in cool & dry environments or in sealed container.
