Ulexite, a calcium-sodium hydrated mineral, exibits a unique fiber optic property. When placed over a newspape or picture, the image is projected through capillary fibers to the other end for you to see. When viewed from the side, the fibers are distinctively visible. Ulexite is nature's example of those exciting light tubes that now carry millions of telephone calls and T.V. pictures around the word.
Ulexit is now mined at U.S. Borax´s large open pit in Boron, California.
